Botswana plans for leather park

Reports in local media say they are hoping to have the park up and running in two years, and that it has asked for P245 million (£19 million) to help with costs.
A recent study assessed the status of the leather sector and found there is only one leather tanning plant in the country, which imported all its raw materials and tanning chemicals. All hides and skins in Botswana are destined for the export market through the Botswana Meat Commission because of the lack of a processing leather plant.
The Lobatse site will consist of an effluent treatment plant and tanneries, should the funding be secured.
