Heusch launches non-corrosive fleshing blade

Germany-based Heusch, a supplier of fleshing and shaving knives to tanneries, has launched a blade which marries strength with non-corrosive properties and which it claims “sets a new benchmark”.

Tested at the laboratories of RWTH Aachen, a research university of technology, the Excalibur knife was found to have a hardness of 62 Rockwell or 900 HV and a flexibility factor of 1.251.

Ute Ahrens of Sales Heusch said the blades last up to 30% longer, which will improve productivity and decrease costs for reblading.

He added that as there is no corrosion on the blade there will be no rust marks on the hides and far less bacteria, so the fleshing machines will be cleaner to operate.
