Braccialini teams with Hidesign to launch in India
Italian leathergoods brand Braccialini is to be launched in India through a joint venture with leather bags and accessories maker Hidesign, based in Pondicherry, India. Braccialini currently has a presence in 40 countries with around 43 mono brand stores. As a part of the proposed venture, Hidesign will set up a new production line at one of its manufacturing units to make Braccialini bags and other leather items.
Hidesign has another joint venture with the Kishore Biyani-led Future Group to make bags and accessories under the brand Holii. The company will soon launch a new collection designed by Italian Alberto Ciaschini at existing Hidesign stores and also open exclusive Alberto Ciaschini stores. Hidesign currently has four manufacturing sites located at Baddi in Himachal Pradesh and in southern India.
Hidesign president Dilip Kapur said they are expanding the brand portfolio, and are also aggressively going in for retail expansion. The company is aiming to have a direct presence in the international market. In the US and European markets, Hidesign has been selling through distributors, but is now looking to establish direct presence.
It is also targeting markets in Asia and Africa, and has expanded retail reach in countries including Nepal, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Maldives and Sri Lanka by opening outlets. The company is also preparing to set up an office in Kenya this year.
