Benevolent institution raises £8,500

13/06/2011
The UK Leather & Hide Trades’ Benevolent Institution (LHTBI) recently held its annual general meeting and lunch event at the Pewterers’ Hall in the City of London. The organisation normally holds the event in the Leathersellers’ Hall, but the property there is being redeveloped.

Malcolm Proops, appointed president at the 150th Anniversary AGM in May 2010, had to step down for family reasons and his place was taken by Mr Ian Michel. His President’s Appeal for 2010–11 raised £8,500 for the charity, which helps former tannery workers who are in need, through old age, illness or general hardship.

Mr Michel has agreed to continue as president for 2011–12.
