SkyeSkyns employees take intensive BSLT course
Jessica Hartwell and Pete Winterbourne from SkyeSkyns, one of the few remaining sheepskin manufacturers in the UK, visited The University of Northampton’s British School of Leather Technology in December for an intensive and customised five-day course.
The course was designed to ‘future-proof’ the business with scientific knowledge and technical updates, helping to ensure any changes in environmental legislation have minimal impact on the Highlands-based firm.
“The course backs up the biological and chemical processes behind what we do at SkyeSkyns and brings new ways into how to work more efficiently,” says Ms Hartwell. “Sheepskin and natural things are very fashionable amongst designers and at SkyeSkyns we produce cutting-edge skins to inspire them.”
