Visit to Eritrea

The president of one of Italy's most prominent leather footwear manufacturing provinces made a formal visit to Eritrea in mid-June to build up trade ties with the African country.
Giulio Silenzi, president of Macerata province in Le Marche, met Eritrea's president, Isaias Afwerki, during the visit and confirmed that leather and leathergoods had featured in their discussions about possible future collaboration.
Le Marche is home to many of the world's most prominent leather footwear manufacturers; Mr Silenzi's home province is host to big names such as Tod's, Della Valle, Fornarina.
