TFL holds training week for BSLT students

11/05/2007

The
TFL Academy in Montebello recently welcomed a group of students from the British School of Leather Technology (BSLT), together with select students from the Italian High School for Tanning Technology ITIS G. Galilei, for advanced training in leather-making.

The students were divided into three working groups focusing on upholstery, classical shoe upper and fashion shoe upper leathers. Throughout the week the students were provided with theoretical and practical teaching in order to introduce the most innovative TFL systems for application in the experimental laboratories. The first half of the week focused on the wet end processes and the second on finishing and it also included visits to ITIS Galilei in Arzignano, which has established a strong relationship with BSLT, through the support of TFL and Italian machinery suppliers.

The groups also presented their achievements and final crust and finished leathers for judging. Each student received a certificate and the winning upholstery group for 2007 was presented with a leather rugby ball for them to sign and display at the university.
