The six Brazilian companies—Via Uno, Bordallo (Anatomic Gel), Azaléia, Siboney, Claudina and West Coast—that participated in the recent Moda Footwear show in Birmingham, UK, said they were satisfied with the deals they had closed.
UK representative of brands Claudina, Via Uno and Carmen Steffens, Catarina Bull said that the British market is open to Brazilian goods. Chris Marrun, who represents Siboney, Azaléia and Bibi, shares the opinion that it is a good time to invest in this market and these three brands succeeded in closing numerous deals in the first day of the fair.
The UK is the second largest export market for Brazilian footwear. In 2005, British importers purchased 10.7 million pairs for $91.9 million. In the first half of 2006, the number of pairs imported from Brazil grew 6% from 5.5 million pairs to 6.1 million pairs and were bought at an average price of $15.
