JBS names new global CEO

Brazil-headquartered food group and tannery owner JBS has announced that Wesley Batista Filho (pictured left) will become global chief executive officer of the company from January 2027 as part of a planned leadership transition.

Mr Batista Filho will succeed Gilberto Tomazoni, who will step down after 14 years with the company, including eight years as global CEO. Mr Tomazoni will oversee the transition before becoming vice chairman of the board and senior advisor. He will also remain chairman of Pilgrim’s Pride Corporation and become chairman of the J&F Institute.

Mr Batista Filho joined JBS in 2011 and has held a number of leadership positions across the group's operations, including CEO of JBS Brazil, CEO of Seara and, since 2023, CEO of JBS USA.

During Mr Tomazoni’s tenure as global CEO, Brazil-headquartered food group and tannery owner JBS said revenues increased by 73% from US$49.7 billion (€42.8 billion) to US$86.2 billion (€74.2 billion). The company also expanded into new protein categories, invested in biotechnology, achieved investment-grade status and completed its listing on the New York Stock Exchange.

The company said the appointment reflects its long-term succession planning as it prepares for its next phase of growth.
