Vietnam opportunity for Brazilian leather manufacturers
Five Brazilian leather manufacturers have signed up to represent the South American country at Shoes & Leather Vietnam. The event takes place in Ho Chi Minh City from July 8 to 10.
The companies that will go are Cortume Krumenauer, Courovale, Euro-América, JBS Couros, and Minuano. They will have the support of a long-standing export promotions programme called Brazilian Leather, which is a partnership between tanning industry body CICB and trade and investment agency ApexBrasil.
They described Vietnam as the world’s third-largest importer of leather from any origin. But Vietnam is also the fourth-largest importer of hides and leather from Brazil.
CICB’s trade intelligence manager, Rogério Cunha, who will accompany the group to Ho Chi Minh City, commented: “In the footwear industry, Vietnam has already become the world’s second-largest exporter, with 40% of the pairs produced for export made from leather. As production continues to decentralise globally, this is a promising market where we can further expand Brazilian leather exports.”
