UNIC prepares to elect a new president

Italy’s national representative body for leather manufacturers, UNIC, will hold its annual general assembly in Santa Croce Sull’Arno on June 12.

The organisation will celebrate two things. First, this year marks the eightieth anniversary of the foundation of UNIC. It said reaching this milestone had inspired it to set out ‘Roots’ as its theme for this edition of the general assembly.

It said ‘Roots’ was an invitation for member companies to recall the values and identity of an organisation that has been a manufacturing mainstay of the Made In Italy concept since 1946.

At the same meeting, the presidency of Fabrizio Nuti will come to an end after more than five years and UNIC will elect a new leadership team.

Mr Nuti was elected as UNIC president at the end of 2020. During his time at the head of the organisation, leather manufacturers have had to adjust to the covid-19 pandemic, the war in Ukraine, intense battles at European Union level of deforestation regulations, further geopolitical conflict in the Middle East and the challenges involved in adapting to a new technological landscape.
