Roadshows underline US importance for Italian furniture

Organisers of the Salone del Mobile furniture exhibition, which next takes place in Milan from April 21-26, recently completed a series of roadshow events to promote the show to US designers and buyers.

They described the US market as one of the most important export destinations for Italian furniture manufacturers, with export revenues of €1.9 billion in the first 11 months of 2025. This puts the US second only to France in terms of export revenues for Italian furniture producers.

President of the Salone del Mobile, Maria Porro, led the roadshows, which took place in Los Angeles, Chicago and New York.

She told furniture buyers in the US that the 2026 exhibition in Milan is completely sold out, with exhibitors occupying 169,000 square-metres of space at the Rho exhibition centre. The US is among the top-ten countries of origin of visitors to the Salone del Mobile.

Ms Porro said: “In a phase of global uncertainty, the Salone del Mobile is strengthening its role as a strategic platform for companies and the market, guaranteeing continuity, reliability and a long-term vision for the entire design system. The US remains a vital partner.”
