Senior appointment at Scottish Leather Group

Leather manufacturer Scottish Leather Group (SLG) has appointed James Muirhead as its chief commercial officer.

Mr Muirhead represents the eighth generation of the group’s founding family; Andrew Muirhead, who launched the business in 1840, was his great-great-grandfather.

James Muirhead began working in 2006, gaining experience across various areas within the business. He furthered his expertise during a period of study at the University of Northampton and, on his return to Scotland, took up the role of quality engineer, which he held until 2011.

He then moved into sales roles at the group’s Bridge of Weir tannery and has held a sales leadership role there for the last 14 months.

Since then, he has contributed significantly to the Sales team at Bridge of Weir and has successfully led the team for the past 14 months. The group said he had built up a deep understanding of SLG’s products and its customers.

“This will make him a great addition to the board and invaluable to the group’s continued success,” it said.
