Red meat promotion body Meat and Livestock Australia (MLA) has said the country produced its highest-ever volume of goat meat in 2023, with 36,903 tonnes of meat.

MLA said the total volume of goat meat produced in Australia had more than doubled in the last three years.

Last year’s total came from just over 2.3 million head, an increase of more than 40% compared to the previous year.

“Australian goat meat production is soaring,” MLA said.
