Paisley project brings SLG on board

Scottish Leather Group (SLG) has pledged its support for Scotland’s “biggest cultural heritage project”.

The leather manufacturing group is one of three new corporate partners that have signed up to support the refurbishment of Paisley Museum.

For decades, SLG’s specialist lime-split, wet blue and wet white operation, WJ and W Lang Limited, was located in Paisley before moving to group headquarters at nearby Bridge of Weir in 2020.

Paisley Museum is undergoing a £45 million refurbishment and is scheduled to reopen in 2025. Local authorities have said that, at the conclusion of the project, labelled ‘Paisley Museum Reimagined’, the town will have “a world-class visitor facility” that will “elevate its cultural standing on the global stage”.

SLG director, James Lang, said Paisley had helped to shape the leather manufacturing group into the sustainable organisation it is today. He added: “Paisley Museum has been a part of my life since childhood, with many visits through the years that inspired and connected me to the history of this great town and its contribution to the world. It would be unthinkable not to be a part of its exciting future.”
