LWG appoints its first executive director
Multi-stakeholder body the Leather Working Group (LWG) has appointed Vanessa Podmore as its executive director, a newly created role.
An industry supply chain and sustainability specialist, Ms Podmore started her career with Clarks, and went on to work for Burberry, Coach and Jimmy Choo. She is a non-executive board member of the British Footwear Association and was instrumental in setting up the UK Footwear Sustainability Summit, which launched in 2023 and ran again in 2024.
On taking up her new role, she said: “Supporting businesses as they tackle the challenge of meeting their sustainability goals has been the thread that runs through my career. This is an important moment for me personally to take on the responsibility of leading LWG. I am honoured and delighted to be joining the team.”
