Speakers confirmed for Green Deal Leather final conference
Industry organisation COTANCE has announced the speakers who will take part in panel discussions at the final conference for the Green Deal Leather (GDL) project, which will take place in Brussels on May 16.
There will be two panel discussions on the day, covering each of the project’s themes.
First, on workplace safety in the tanneries of the future, speakers will include director general of machinery manufacturers’ association Assomac, Agostino Apolito. Also taking part will be Beatriz Mello da Cunha from the International Labour Organisation, Javier Uson Montesinos from Spanish trade union organisation UGT, and the director of leather sector certification institute ICEC, Sabrina Frontini.
This first panel session will have Elspeth Hathaway from trade union organisation industriAll-Europe as its moderator.
Leather’s carbon footprint will be the focus of the second panel discussion. It will have four speakers: Maurizio Maggioni from leather chemicals manufacturers’ body UNPAC, Andreas Meyer from Germany’s national tanning industry body, VDL, Ivan Král, development officer for leather at the United Nations Industrial Development Organisation and the environmental, social and corporate governance manager at leather manufacturer Mastrotto Group, Guido Zilli.
The moderator for this second panel discussion will be the founder and chief executive of specialist consultancy Spin 360, Federico Brugnoli.
