Industry promotional body Meat and Livestock Australia (MLA) has announced that Michael Crowley will become its new managing director at the end of May.

MLA said Mr Crowley would come to the role with extensive experience of the industry domestically and internationally, including several previous senior roles in the organisation itself.

His most recent role in the industry has been as chief executive of Herefords Australia, an organisation for livestock producers specialising in Hereford cattle.

On announcing the appointment, MLA said it was about to embark on a new, five-year strategic plan and Michael Crowley would lead that process.
