State visit could bring closer leather ties between Vietnam and Brazil
Vietnam’s prime minister, Pham Minh Chinh, travelled to Brazil for a formal state visit from September 23-25.
Discussions focused on advancing the relationship between the two countries with the emphasis firmly on economic growth, social development, environmental protection, energy security and food security.
One of the fruits of the visit was a new plan of action to take agricultural co-operation between the two countries forward. A memorandum of understanding on agriculture and food was already in place, but the new plan will focus on measures to speed up its implementation between 2024 and 2026.
Senior representatives of the meat and leather industry in Brazil were among the business leaders to take part in discussions with Pham Minh Chinh and his delegation.
Later, one of those who took part, the chief executive of leather manufacturing group JBS Couros, Guilherme Motta, said the visit had represented “an important opportunity to discuss mutual co-operation”.
