Odour-control development at Pulcra Chemicals
Leather chemicals group Pulcra Chemicals has expanded its range of odour-neutralising products.
It has used microcapsule technology to incorporate active components into leather chemicals, with the active components releasing their effects gradually so that the anti-odour functionality will last for several years in some cases.
It said microencapsulation for leather products became possible through the integration into Pulcra of Devan Chemicals in 2021.
Pulcra said its research has focused on three key principles for odour control. These are removing or chemically binding potential odour-causing precursors during leather processing; preventing the formation of malodorous molecules through catalytic interactions and balancing odours using specific neutralising molecules.
The company said its odour-control products are fully approved for automotive leather and perform well in all emission measurements.
