UNIC and Distretto Veneto della Pelle sign schools agreement
In an important milestone for the leather district of Veneto, a three year agreement has been signed between Italy’s national tanning industry body, UNIC, and the region’s leather manufacturing cluster, the Distretto Veneto della Pelle, that will realise a series of initiatives in schools to grow the reputation of the leather sector.
Workshops will be used to help teachers, students and their families understand the history, circularity and versatility of leather in a scientific approach and will also confront misinformation and preconceptions.
"In a period characterized by rapid and continuous social and economic changes, it is increasingly difficult to transfer to our young people the values and job opportunities of a complex sector such as tanning. UNIC, which has been working for years on the theme of orientation, has firmly joined the project carried out by Distretto Veneto della Pelle to improve, expand and consolidate the objectives it has set itself in this regard" said Fulvia Bacchi, director of UNIC Concerie Italiane.
