New issue of World Leather available now
The latest issue of World Leather is now live in electronic format on the website; print copies are going into distribution in the coming days.
With lifecycle analysis (LCA) seeming to come up every time industry professionals get together these days, we decided to devote the entire Thought Leadership half of our Leather and the Circular Economy section to LCA this time.
This amounts to three hefty articles, in which we aim to share something of the leather industry’s lived experience of LCA so far, something of the doubts that remain about the benefits the methodology may have for leather, and something of what lies ahead.
In the technology section, there are examinations of the ways in which leather chemical developers have adapted to increasing demands for the material to retain traditional properties while increasing its biodegradability. There is also an in-depth look at the special approach that Mongolian pastoralists take to making the best possible use of by-products from the livestock in their herds.
In the Circular Stories half of Leather and the Circular Economy, we bring you, as always, in-depth insight into the ways in which tanners and finished product companies (an automotive brand, Polestar, and two accessories brands, Teton Leather Company and Lutz Morris) are enhancing leather’s circular economy credentials.
Finally, in Beast to Beauty, we examine the recently announced change of ownership of the Tom Ford brand and ask what this will mean for its licensed footwear and accessories partner, Ermenegildo Zegna.
We hope you find all of the articles informative and helpful.
