New report gives overview of Brazil’s tanning sector
Promotional project Brazilian Leather, which tanning industry association CICB runs with overseas trade body Apex Brasil, has launched a comprehensive study of the current make-up of Brazil’s tannery sector.
This study gives a complete overview of the industry in a 56-page report.
According to the publication, there were 240 tanneries in Brazil in 2019 and by 2020 this number had fallen to 214. The industry in 2021 had a turnover of more than $2.1 billion.
The report also details the types of leather produced for each application such as footwear, automotive, furniture, leathergoods and garments.
