LHCA’s Rewind documentary series continues
Industry organisation the Leather and Hide Council of America (LHCA) has now released four episodes of its Rewind documentary series. LHCA launched Rewind in October as part of its Real Leather, Stay Different campaign.
Farming was the focus of episode one and the organisation followed this up with a second instalment covering fashion. This film addressed the environmental challenges caused by the fast fashion phenomenon and made it clear that clothes and accessories made from long-lasting materials such as leather “can break this damaging cycle”.
Next came an episode devoted to food, looking closely at the role of cattle in feeding a growing global population with meat and dairy products, often using marginal land on which no other large-scale food production is possible. But the film made it clear that regenerative cattle farming can also help tackle global warming.
Episode four, the latest in the series, looks to the future and says this is no time for greenwashing. Instead, the film says, it is time to look at the evidence and “make the best possible use of the best materials we have”, to reduce our reliance on non-renewable fossil fuel-based alternatives.
