Double header for Brazilian leather on two continents

20/10/2022

With two international leather fairs taking place simultaneously from October 19-21 but on different continents, Brazilian leather will be present at both events.

At the APLF fair in Bangkok, 21 Brazilian companies travelled to Thailand to participate.

“ASEAN is an expanding trade bloc made up of ten countries, including Vietnam, Indonesia and Thailand. It is the third-largest economy in Asia and the fifth in the world. It is a very interesting market and, as Thailand is a design centre closely related to leather, Bangkok became the ideal place for this event,” observed Letícia Luft, manager of the Brazilian Leather project, a promotional programme led by tanning industry body CICB.

This is the first time that Brazil has exhibited in the Asia-Pacific region since September 2019 at ACLE in Shanghai, owing to the zero-covid policy ruling in China.

Meanwhile, at the ANPIC show, which was celebrating its 60th edition on the same dates, there were four Brazilian tanneries, each of which is targeting the Mexican market.

CICB’s trade intelligence manager, Rogério Cunha, said ties between Brazil and Mexico were strong and that he was confident of positive results at ANPIC.
