Industry first for Gruppo Dani
Leather manufacturer Gruppo Dani has been awarded ISO 50001 certification for energy management. This covers its four factories in Italy and is a first for the Italian tanning industry.
The certification was awarded by DNV, an international testing, certification and technical advisory service to the energy value chain, including renewables, oil and gas, and energy management.
The DNV audit certified the compliance of the energy management system of the complete leather-making cycle at Gruppo Dani, from raw to finished.
The mapping of energy flows in each department of the company started almost six years ago and was. “This allowed us to understand how to better manage productivity,” explained Andrea Sapri, Dani’s sustainability manager.
Company president Giancarlo Dani commented: “We are proud to have obtained the ISO 50001 certification. Efficient energy management is an essential factor for Dani. It allows not only to reduce our environmental impact, but also to guarantee a reduction in costs.”
