Non-profit organisation the Sustainable Leather Foundation (SLF), which aims to promote sustainability in the global leather industry, has appointed Katie Kutskill as its new technical director.

She took up the role on April 4, joining from automotive leather group Pangea, where she was sustainability officer and director of product development.

Ms Kutskill said the time was right for the leather industry to make “tangible, impactful change that showcases leather’s inherent, sustainable qualities”. SLF seeks to do this through its Transparency Dashboard, which links to a certification standard that assesses the compliance and performance of leather manufacturers against environmental, social and governance aspects of sustainability.
