Growth for Japanese leather imports and exports
Japan’s leather and leathergoods industry association (JLIA) has published import and export figures for the first 11 months of 2021.
Imports of hides and leather had a value of around $15 million, up by 75% year on year. Exports of leather brought in $13.4 million, an increase of 43%.
For accessories, imports had a value of just under $50 million over the 11-month period, 21% on the figure for the same months in 2020. Footwear imports had a value of $33 million.
