Specialist auction house Artcurial has called its sale of limited-edition handbags in Monaco on January 19 “a wonderful success”.

The sale comprised 70 lots in total, 56 of them from Hermès. Artcurial said afterwards that it had sold 87% of them, raising a total of more than €890,000.

A 2015 Hermès Kelly bag in plum-coloured crocodile leather was the top-seller, going for €49,400, followed by a 2001 Birkin bag in Dalmatian (black-and-white) calfskin, which sold for €44,900. The top five were all from Hermès and all went to European collectors.
