Rolls-Royce Motors opens 2022 apprenticeship programme

High-end automotive group Rolls-Royce Motors has opened its apprenticeship programme for next year, saying it will offer a record number of places.

In 2022, the company will take on 37 new apprentices, an increase of 15% compared to 2020 and the largest intake since the programme’s inception in 2006. Applications close on February 20, 2022.

Successful applicants will spend between two and four years preparing to work as craftspeople in the company’s own leather workshop and other parts of its factory at Goodwood in the south of England. Areas of production for which Rolls-Royce hopes to attract new recruits include assembly, interior surfaces, surface finish, interior trim and what it calls ‘total vehicle management’. There are opportunities to work in non-production roles too.

Candidates will receive paid, on-the-job training and part-time formal education, leading to formal qualifications, up to and including degree-level qualifications.

Rolls-Royce said its programme represents “an outstanding opportunity for post-16 students seeking hands-on experience with a world-class company as a direct route into work or fully-funded alternative to university”.

Chief executive, Torsten Müller-Ötvös, commented: “We have always recognised the fundamental importance of investing in future talent, not just to support our own business objectives, but to build the skills and knowledge base within UK luxury more widely.”
