Customs support for Putian footwear firms
Since the beginning of this year, customs officials from the footwear manufacturing hub of Putian, located in the south-eastern Chinese province of Fujian, have implemented a total of ten strategic measures to support local shoe companies in improving their export competitiveness.
Actions taken include direct intervention to help businesses better prepare for overseas customs clearance, plus obtain advanced customs certification, and the implementation of a “one-stop” support service for customs-related management processes.
According to reports from within the country, Putian Customs has also created several testing platforms for local footwear exporters to test out their goods against international technical specifications, in order to mitigate known barriers to foreign trade.
Local media said that the government body’s services cover “all” the steps required for more efficient technical testing and, therefore, global trade.
