French leathergoods manufacturers exported €4.7 billion worth of products in the first six months of 2021, an increase of 44% compared to the first half of last year.

Leather handbags contributed €2.8 billion towards the total, a rise of 53% year on year.

In other categories, exports of small leathergoods fell by 5% to €634.4 million, while shipments of leather watchstraps rose in value by 37% to reach €82.5 million.
