Availability of supply is the hot topic at Tanning Tech
The positive mood at the Tanning Tech exhibition in Milan continued into day two, with technology providers making it clear that they were happy to be back meeting colleagues, customers and other industry figures face to face again.
One theme that emerged in a many conversations centred on the conviction that availability of supply is key to success in the current environment. This is a reference to the challenge many companies are facing at the moment in securing supply of the raw materials they need to make and deliver products on time.
For tanning machinery manufacturers, constraints include a lack of steel and other consumables.
Exhibitors said an increase in their prices, owing to rises in the cost of producing and transporting equipment, was something their customers understood. A much more serious problem, they said, would be to miss out on securing business because of a lack of supply or excessively prolonged lead times.
