Mixed news for Pakistan leather exports
Pakistan’s export revenues from leather and leathergoods dropped to $856.6 million in the country’s most recent financial year, July 2020 to June 2021, a drop of 9.3% compared to the year before.
Finished leather exports fell in value by 12% to just over $160 million. In terms of volume, the fall was of more than 25%, to 12.5 million square-metres.
Exports of leather products increased in value to reach more than $560 million, a rise of 18.7%, including growth for leather garments and gloves.
There was growth for footwear too, rising by 4.7% in value to $131.9 million, and by 22% in volume to just over 16 million pairs.
