First-half growth for Brazilian leather
Brazil’s leather exports in the first six months of this year showed an increase of 51% in value and by 17.4% in terms of area compared to the same period in 2020.
In the first half of 2021, leather exports brought in revenues of $680 million and registered a total area of 14.25 million square-metres. Shipments to China accounted for 33% of value, and for 38.3% of area. In second place, Italy’s share was just under 16% in each case.
Finished leather accounted for 56.7% of the total value and 53.3% of the total area. Wet blue’s share was 26.1% of value and 36.4% of area.
