Kering Foundation to support 15 new support centres for women
A foundation set up by luxury leathergoods group Kering has announced that it will work in partnership with the French government to fund the creation of 15 women’s centres across France. The new centres will be based on an existing centre called La Maison des Femmes (the Women’s House) in Saint-Denis, just to the north of Paris. This facility was set up in 2016 with support from the Kering Foundation. In 2020, it cared for more than 4,500 women.
The luxury group’s chief executive, François-Henri Pinault, made the announcement at the end of June at an event called the Generation Equality Forum. He explained that the 15 new centres would offer shelter, care and support for women who are victims of violence.
“La Maison des Femmes in Saint-Denis has demonstrated its value as a way of helping women to break out of a cycle of violence and to rebuild their lives,” Mr Pinault said at the event. “With the support of the government and other partners, it’s time to roll out these facilities across France, and to take care of children, who are also victims.”
