Farm programme offers tanner guarantee of quality
Leather manufacturer Tasman has said its commitment to “the New Zealand way” offers guarantees of integrity, traceability, biosecurity, sustainability and animal health and welfare.
All of its suppliers of hides, it has explained, are members of an initiative called the New Zealand Farm Assurance Programme, set up by the New Zealand red meat sector and the country’s ministry for primary industries. Around 8,000 beef, sheep and deer farmers are already certified under the programme.
“It is about ensuring Tasman products accurately reflect the unique quality of New Zealand’s natural environment,” the leather producer said on announcing that all of its suppliers have signed up. “New Zealand’s hides have a reputation of being of consistently high quality, with minimal blemishes.”
