Biocircular concept wins tanner’s vote of confidence
Turkish tanning group Sepiciler has spoken of its enthusiasm for the Biocircular concept that leather chemicals group Silvateam introduced last year.
On presenting Biocircular as part of its Ecotan range of technologies, Silvateam explained that the concept means using only natural products to make leather and finished leather products, with specialist partners ready take the material back at the end of a product’s useful life for use in fertiliser production. This makes the idea “truly circular”, Silvateam has said.
Sepiciler was part of a small group of leather manufacturers that pioneered the use of Ecotan products to make Biocircular leather in partnership with Silvateam. The Turkish company’s chief executive, Mehmet Sepici, spoke recently of his support for the idea.
He said: “We are proud to be a partner of this project. The production of Biocircular leather completes the loop; what comes from nature returns back to back to nature.”
Mr Sepici described the articles his company has made so far using the Biocircular concept and products in the Ecotan range as having excellent performance standards as well as its circular-economy credentials.
Sepiciler was the winner of Tannery of the Year for Europe in 2013.
