Au-Delà du Cuir, an association set up 2012 by France’s Conseil National Du Cuir (National Leather Council) and national footwear federation (FFC) to promote the use of leather by young designers, has opened a new showroom in central Paris.

The showroom occupies 150 square-metres of space at Rue de Cléry, close to the former home of the Paris stock exchange, the Palais Brongniart.

Since 2012, Au-Delà du Cuir, which means ‘Beyond Leather’, has worked to provide a link between traditional French leather artisanship and the challenges of the international market.

It said on opening the new showroom that it had provided support to 60 small and medium businesses that are active in the French leather sector and that it had helped to create 195 new jobs in the industry.
