Dolce&Gabbana opens new Seoul flagship
Italian luxury brand Dolce&Gabbana has opened a new flagship boutique in the affluent Cheongdam-dong area of Seoul’s Gangnam District.
In a statement, the brand described the Jean Nouvel-designed store as an “architectural ode to the encounter between love for tradition and ceaseless innovation.”
Mr Nouvel’s studio handled both the interior and exterior design elements. The main feature of the building is a cylinder of clear glass, set between four corner pillars of black granite, with large convex glass facades on two sides of the building.
Interiors-wise, the store centres on a single large spiral ramp, clad in mosaic Nero Marquina marble, which connects the different floors. The idea is for visitors to be carried upwards by this “vortex”, Dolce&Gabbana said, in order to experience the collections, which are “enhanced”, floor by floor, by a “captivating lighting system”.
The Cheongdam-dong boutique, which the brand termed “important”, houses ready-to-wear, accessories and fine jewellery and watches for both men and women, as well as the Dolce&Gabbana Sartoria made to measure service.
