Paris-based menswear brand ties up with JM Weston

Paris-based designer menswear brand Uniforme is the latest to launch a limited-edition collection with specialist footwear producer JM Weston.

Uniforme’s founders, designers Hugues Fauchard and Rémi Bats, have talked about their fascination with “the authenticity and durability” of uniforms, which their choice of brand name. This interest may also have brought JM Weston to the designers’ attention; the brand makes riding boots for the 500-strong cavalry regiment of France’s Republican Guard.

Rather than riding boots, though, what JM Weston has produced for Uniforme is a special edition of its Golf derby in black calfskin.

The shoes have a triple sole, crafted with a Goodyear-welt instruction. Details include contrasting white stitching and white laces.

Mr Fauchard and Mr Bats have said they aim to conduct “intimate dialogues” with suppliers and make “meaningful decisions” with them. They say a commitment to sustainable luxury, using renewable, natural fibres, is at the core of the brand. Their use of plastic is “strictly limited”.
