TFL names Peter Amman's successor

07/12/2020

Following its announcement at the start of December that Dr Peter Amann would step down as chief executive at the end of the year, leather chemicals manufacturer TFL has now named his successor.

Its new chief executive will be Dr Wolfgang Schütt; he will join the group in March 2021.
Dr Schütt is currently chief executive of a global chemical company called Eckart, which operates mainly in the automotive, industrial coatings, printing and cosmetics industries.
Eckart is part of the Altana group. Wolfgang Schütt joined Altana in 2005.

TFL said it was pleased to have recruited an experienced leader to guide the company through “a period of substantial change”. It announced its acquisition of Lanxess’s organic leather chemicals business in August 2020.  This acquisition remains subject to approval by competition authorities, but is expected to close in the second quarter of 2021.

Commenting on this, Dr Schütt said: “After closing the acquisition, our task will be to combine the strengths of both businesses.”

Asset management firm Black Diamond acquired TFL in 2013. Its managing director for private equity, James Hogarth, said on behalf of the TFL group supervisory board: “We are excited to welcome Dr Schütt as chief executive, and are confident he will successfully oversee the integration of the Lanxess leather chemicals business and maintain TFL’s strong growth trajectory.”
