Leather chemicals company CEO to retire

02/12/2020

The chief executive of leather chemicals group TFL, Dr Peter Amann, is to step down from the role at the end of 2020. He will join the company’s supervisory board in January and continue to support the management and strategic direction of the company.

Dr Amann said the timing for this change was right, for him personally and for the business. He commented: “TFL is well positioned in the market and, with the integration of the organic leather chemicals business from Lanxess, my successor and executive colleagues will build the strongest player in the global leather chemicals market.”

He thanked his colleagues, calling them “the best team in the industry” and said he was grateful also to the company’s customers, suppliers and partners for their loyalty and support.

A chemist by background, Peter Amann joined TFL in the 1990s. He moved to Hong Kong in 1996 to lead the company’s business in Asia. He retured to Europe in 2002 to head up the group’s production, research, purchasing, wet-end division, sales, marketing and supply chain, becoming chief executive in 2007.

On making the announcement, he said: “The leather virus got hold of me early on in my career. Leather is a wonderful product and deserves to be treated with respect, by this I mean the story of leather has to be told correctly and innovation will bring it back into consumers’ mind.”
