FFCM, an organisation that represents shoemakers, bootmakers and footwear repair service providers in France, has joined the country’s main leather industry body, the Conseil National du Cuir (CNC).

In response, CNC said it was delighted to accept its new member organisation owing to the central role that leather plays in footwear. It said leather manufacturers and footwear producers share many of the same objectives, as well as the same challenges in terms of sustainability and globalisation.

With the addition of the footwear makers’ and repairers’ organisation, CNC now encompasses 21 professional industry bodies in France. Collectively, these represent 12,800 businesses with a combined total of more than 130,000 employees and a combined turnover in excess of €25 billion per year.
