UK leather retailer signs US and South Korea deals

Owen Barry, a third-generation sheepskin and leather business based in the UK, has signed deals that will see its products sold in the US and South Korea.

Pieces from the brand’s range of handmade leather, suede and cowhide handbags and accessories will be sold in six major US stores, as reported in the British publication Business Leader, and in five department stores throughout South Korea.

Managing director Cindi Barnstable credited an international trade advisor from the UK’s Department for International Trade for support and mentorship in navigating funding and trade shows.

According to Business Leader, the economy of South West UK — the region in which Owen Barry is based — could grow by up to £284 million as a result of a future UK-US free trade agreement.
