Premiere Vision highlights spring-summer 21 leather trends

Organisers of trade show Premiere Vision have outlined leather trends for spring-summer 21, saying that most suppliers are active and ready to take orders.

It predicts simplicity and "the search for exceptional skins" will combine in leathers that “brilliantly combine innovation, technology and eco-responsibility".

Oversized bags and multi-pocketed belts will be made of water-repellent leather, and backpacks will be made of heavy, durable leathers and feature over-stitching and quilting.

“In evening bags, envelope, baguette and bucket bags are adorned with opulently baroque jewellery, brooches or embroideries,” organisers said. “Bijou bags are worked in nappa leather with an extremely subtle shine, or in peach-skin velvet calf-leather, in darkly pigmented colour schemes or in a range of delectable naturals.”

It predicts textures that are matt or powdery, and designs will be influenced by sportswear: perforated leather could have a mesh or fishnet look, in silvery bi-material leather or in smooth leather with a neoprene finish.

In footwear, chunky-soled sneakers, in colour blocks mixing pastels and brights, will combine couture and sporty materials: shiny, perforated leather and neoprene.

In more summery versions, sandals feature a hybrid, slightly futuristic look bridging sport and evening, with padded and iridescent flip-flops and beach mules.
