Virtual reality tours will enhance transparency, PrimeAsia says
Tanning group PrimeAsia has launched a virtual reality platform to offer online tours of its tanneries in Vietnam and China.
It said it wanted to use virtual reality technology to transform the way it presents its operations to customers around the world.
“Companies have to be more transparent when it comes to their supply chains,” PrimeAsia said on making the announcement, “to demonstrate the integrity of their products.”
Corporate and social responsibility, sustainability, transparency and integrity are no longer just about the end product and brand logo, it said. Conscious consumers want to know more about what goes into a product, the materials used and the sustainability of those materials and processes.
“Virtual Reality will allow us to be far more efficient in creating a platform that allows our stakeholders to experience our facilities, products and company,” said chief executive, Jon Clark. “Virtual reality brings our tanneries to consumers, showing how sustainable leather is made and what a modern, state-of-the-art tannery can do.”
The company said it would add more content to its virtual reality platform in the months ahead, including workshops and presentations of new products.
