Two-year deal puts antiviral treatment on luxury handbags
Handbags for luxury labels like Marc Jacobs, Giorgio Armani, Coach and Gucci are about to undergo antiviral treatment, thanks to a deal between chemicals company Polygiene and branded handbag maker Shinsung.
According to a statement from Polygiene, the initial order for its ViralOff treatment to be used on Shinsung materials is worth at least 3.6 million Swedish Kroner (around $380,500) over the next two years.
The treatment is developed to inhibit viruses and bacteria on the materials, inhibiting not only the exchange of germs but microbial damage to the bags.
Ulrika Björk, CEO of Polygiene, said: “Fashion is rapidly moving toward pandemic sustainability – taking the steps we have to take for the future.”
