Another record year for LVMH

Luxury group LVMH has reported revenues of €53.7 billion for 2019, a new record and an increase of 15% compared to 2018. It said it had achieved good levels of growth in Europe and the US, and that its figures for Asia were strong too, “despite a difficult environment in Hong Kong in the second half of 2019”.

Profit from recurring operations amounted to €11.5 billion in 2019, up 15%, compared to what it called “an already high level” in 2018.

Chief executive, Bernard Arnault, said: “LVMH had another record year, both in terms of revenue and results. The desirability of our brands, the creativity and quality of our products, the unique experience offered to our customers, and the talent and the commitment of our teams are the group’s strengths and have, once again, made the difference.”

Its leathergoods and fashion division contributed €22.2 billion towards the group’s total, growing by 20% year on year.

It said Louis Vuitton had continued to deliver “an exceptional performance” and that Christian Dior had had “a remarkable year”. It added that Fendi’s highlight for 2019 had been its final tribute to the late Karl Lagerfeld, after a collaboration of 54 years. Loewe delivered “strong growth” under the impetus of creative director Jonathan Anderson, while Loro Piana, Rimowa and Berluti all experienced “good progress”.
