YSL to open leather goods site outside Florence
French luxury label Saint Laurent has plans to open a leather goods site outside Florence, Italy, in the industrial district of Scandicci.

The brand’s president and CEO Francesca Bellettini said 340 Saint Laurent workers will move to the new 29,000 square-metre manufacturing site, Reuters reported, and the brand expects to take on an additional 300 people.

Saint Laurent is said to have signed a 27-year contract to rent out two buildings, which will be renovated before the label takes up residence in 2022. At the new site, Reuters said, Saint Laurent will make prototypes of leather bag and wallet designs, carry out manufacturing and R&D, and train workers.
